Changing Gears Trip Log

This is Paula Tomlinson's trip log for the 2005 US leg of the Changing Gears Harley ride.

Saturday, September 24

The practice riding is over and the real ride has begun. We departed Los Angeles this morning and drove to the official kick-off of the Changing Gears 2005 US ride, at Laidlaw's Harley-Davidson. They mustered up a handsome spread with tables, tent, barbeque, and drinks all waiting for the Changing Gears riders to arrive. Several of us had friends and family on hand as well.

After enjoying the Laidlaw's hospitality, we had been scheduled to next stop at the famous Neptune's Net. Unfortunately, the surf was up (just like in a 60's beach movie!), and all the parking in that area was pretty much used up. We had a nice ride on to Ventura, though.

The group rides well together -- like pro's! Even though it's only our third day together, I'm getting used to my softtail now and hardly ever forget where to put my feet. :-)
